The coat-of-arms in the centre of this stained glass panel is identified as that of the Swiss noble family of Muntprat of the town of Konstanz, owners of the castle of Spiegelberg. Documents record that the Muntprat family owned the castle until 1582. In terms of both style and composition, the Hermitage panel is close to two pieces of stained glass attributed to Nicolaus Wirt von Wil, a master from Saint-Galle, whose monogram is found on this panel.
The central part of the composition of the Hermitage piece is very close to a heraldic stained glass panel with an allegorical figure of Fortune and bearing the coat-of-arms of Grigory Rudlieger in the Mendel Collection .
