In 1914, Albert Marquet went to the south, working in Collioure , Marseilles and Nice , and L'Estaque . However, Landscape with a Bridge was not painted in the south, but in the Île de France. In this picture, the light particular to that region is conveyed with rare simplicity and expressiveness. The subject of this painting and the treatment of the trees and the sky link it to several landscapes executed in Samois and Herblay . |
